Display photos of the park, swimming pool, library, nursery, shops and other familiar places where you live. Ask the children to write their name and draw their face on sticky labels and fix it next to the photos of their favourite places.

Arrange to visit the baby clinic and watch babies being weighed and measured. Set up a baby clinic role-play area, with individual records for each doll and toy, weighing scales and a tape measure (see activity opposite). (PS5, 8)

Talk about older people and how they are looked after by families and in old people’s homes where you live. Make some pictures of people and places where you live. Arrange a visit to a home to deliver your pictures. Talk about the importance of caring for everyone in our communities. (PS5, 9)
